While new fields for youth and adult sports are important to Westfield residents, they were NOT identified as top priorities by Brandstetter Carroll. Brandstetter Carrol listed the high priorities as:
Westfield has a “gap” of 5.3 fields, but we lack NATURAL grass fields, NOT SYNTHETIC fields.
As part of the Strategic Parks Plan, Westfield residents were asked which upgrades they wanted to see in our parks.
- 81% of residents do NOT want artificial turf fields
- 76% of residents do NOT want sports field lighting
The Town is ignoring what Westfield residents want and proposing to install artificial turf and lights on the Edison School property. There are also future plans to do the same at Memorial Park and Elm Street as well as add more lighting to Tamaques Park.
